Randell K. Williams
Chief Technology Officer of U.S. Global Investors

I was born in Amman, Jordan in 1963 and moved to the United States in 1983 to start a new life. With the training and degree I earned at Hallmark College, I worked my way up from a job with long hours at a corner ice-house and gas station to President of U.S. Web Labs and Chief Technology Officer of U.S. Global Investors. At Hallmark it does not matter where you come from, only where you are going.

Once I completed my Electronics degree at Hallmark, I set in motion a career in computer networking and obtained various Novell and Microsoft certifications. I worked as an Electronics Technician and Sales Consultant for BizMart/Office Max, as Systems Engineer for Jungle Laboratories Corporation in Cibolo, Texas, and as Director of Technology for Arthur Anderson International, LLP for the San Antonio and Austin offices. In 2000, I moved to U.S. Global Investors and U.S Web Labs.

I have recruited and hired Hallmark students for permanent employment and as interns. I value education not only as a social good, but as an essential to any individual's ability to achieve a higher standard of living and fulfilling life.

Jack Ishihara
IT Manager, Shook Mobile Technologies

Working 60 hours plus a week in a retail grocery started to take its toll on my health and lifestyle. I always had given advice to other people about how important it is to get an education. I finally decided to take my own advice. After doing research on several colleges and career schools, Hallmark College of Technology became my final choice for very good reasons.

On my first visit, I received a tour of the campus while classes were in session. After reviewing the brochures and talking with the Financial Planning Department, I enrolled in the Electronics Technology program--and I’m glad I did. From day one to my graduation I did not regret my decision. Every instructor gave me confidence. I completed each course with the certainty I had the training to make it in the real world of electronics and computers.

Also, I give Hallmark thanks for getting me started in my new career. After graduation, Hallmark hired me for the position of Desktop Support Specialist where I learned more about information technology. I got a job offer with Valero Energy in their level one call center and was promoted to a level two support group that deals with more complex technical issues. After several years, I started work as the IT Manager for Shook Mobile Technology. I would not be in the position I’m in now if it were’t for my degree and Hallmark College of Technology.

Darrell Baker
Associate of Applied Science
Airframe and Powerplant Technology

As a Hallmark graduate about 15 years ago, my life as a certified Aircraft Maintenance Technician has been full of challenge and change. My experience in the aviation industry has allowed me to perform jobs and take on personal responsibilities that, to me, someone would be hard- pressed to duplicate in any other line of work. As a line mechanic, I was privileged to maintain and operate billions of dollars worth of commercial aircraft each month. The pride of seeing the fruits of my labor was enormous each time I watched one of my Boeing -777s, -767s, or -757s gracefully muscle its way into the skies over San Francisco, California. But the discipline, drive, and basic know -how began at Hallmark College of Aeronautics. In an attempt to give back to the industry, I have returned to Hallmark as an instructor. At Hallmark College of Aeronautics, we do a good job of producing aircraft mechanics and giving them what they need to succeed as professionals.

Octavio Roque
Associate of Applied Science
Airframe and Powerplant Technology

I have always been interested in Aviation. Growing up, I knew I wanted a career in the aviation industry but I didn't know were to begin. As head of the household, I had to support my mother and two sisters, so that I had to make a career decision soon. Hallmark College of Aeronautics gave me an opportunity to get my education and start my career as quickly as possible. Hallmark helped me get my foot in the door with a great company. Now, as a full-time employee of Cessna Citation, life has improved for me and my family. Now I am going back to college to further my education in Engineering Technology.

Michael D. Scott
Associate of Applied Science
Electronic Technology

After graduation, Hallmark's Career Planning Department helped with my job search. I was hired by Pitney Bowes Inc., a Fortune 500 company, as a Field Service Technician in Corpus Christi, Texas. After nine years, I was promoted to District Technical Specialist for the Fort Worth District. This position included setting up and instructing training classes in various cities around the country. I was also the main troubleshooter for the Fort Worth District Office. Shortly after this, I was promoted to the Dallas District as Service Manager where I managed 32 Field Technicians. Pitney Bowes sold its Copier Division and offered long-term managers an early retirement package which I accepted.

I then relocated back to San Antonio and went to work for the Texas Workforce Commission as a Customer Service Representative/Investigator. This position requires a degree, and I was told that the State only hires individuals with Bachelors degree. Even through I had an Associate Degree, due to my work experience background and the education I received from Hallmark, I was offered the job.

The smartest move I have made in my life was to attend Hallmark College. The education I received was great. I received several job offers, even after I had started my new job at Pitney Bowes. I would encourage anyone to make this move, work hard, and be aggressive. You make your own success, but having a little help doesn't hurt.

Mike Doss
Associate of Applied Science
Electronic Engineering Technology

After graduating from Clark High School, San Antonio, Texas, in May of 1988, I enrolled immediately in the Electronics degree program at Hallmark College of Technology. My education and training began in September. During my time at Hallmark Institute, I earned a four point grade average.

After only 11 months, I had earned my Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology. The months passed quickly. Soon it was graduation day, and I was ready to begin my career. The Career Planning Department helped me get my first position at a Personnel Agency who placed me with Southwest Research Institute.

Shortly after this, I accepted a position as a Technician at Micro-Fix Inc. Due to my education and training that I received at Hallmark College, I was able to grow and keep up with the new technology. As the electronics industry changed, I was able to make changes as well. Eventually, I advanced from Technician to the position of Service Manager at Micro-Fix Inc. I have spent 16 years with my company. I must say that I would never have attained my supervisory position without all the knowledge and training that I gained while attending Hallmark College of Technology.

Norman Taylor
Associate of Applied Science
Business Technology-Medical Specialty

A severe back injury while I was a truck driver forced me to look at other career options.
I decided to enroll at Hallmark College of Technology. In addition to my business courses, I was honored to be voted President of the Student Council. I gained experience in communication and teamwork which helped me in the workplace.

After my graduation from Hallmark College, I enrolled in Wayland Baptist University were I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree with a minor in Criminal Justice. I was hired as a Child Protective Services Investigator in Kerrville, Texas. I recently became certified as a Forensic Interviewer and have been asked to consider a supervisory role in the agency because of my leadership abilities.

I truly believe that attending Hallmark College played an important part in my life and helped me to prepare for and to conquer the important challenges of today's society. With the education and confidence I obtained, I was able to achieve my goals. Without the support and encouragement of the staff and fellow students, I might not be in the career I am today. The support of my wife and family helped, too.

The Computer Network Systems Program and my Associate of Applied Science Degree from Hallmark College, in addition to my perseverance, have provided me with a new career. My classes gave me a good foundation for moving on to the next step, the job. I now hold the position of Applications Engineer/Microwave Engineer.

Hallmark College gave me the training and education so that I could begin a new career in the computer network technology field. At Hallmark College, it didn't matter where you came from, only where you wanted to go. Hallmark Institute pointed me in the right direction by providing me with a quality program and an excellent over-all education in order to succeed.

Jaime Campos
Associate of Applied Science
Computer Network Systems Technology

My first visit at Hallmark College was awesome. I didn't want to feel pressured and hear any sales pitch. I wanted the facts and got more than what I asked for. The Admissions Department took the time to explain in detail the degree I wanted to pursue and listened to what my goals were for the future. I immediately felt Hallmark College's empathy and connection. At that moment, I knew I was going to challenge myself and attain a degree at Hallmark College of Technology.

I remember feeling so happy and scared at the same time. I was not sure if I could complete the course. I had recently been laid off, and I had a wonderful family to support. This meant I would have to work nights and stay focused on class during the day. I put a plan in place and made a promise to myself for my family that I would not give up, no matter what happened. I met the challenge head on. I did it! Believe me you can do it, too!
