Hallmark College announces its newest program offering, the Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing at the Martha Fessler Memorial School of Nursing. Over four years of planning and development led to the approval by the Texas Board of Nursing on January 27, 2011. With an emphasis on technology in health care, the new simulation and skills laboratory house eight high fidelity mannequins for learning, a nurse’s station with three computer terminals for electronic charting, and individual patient rooms with AV recording of student performance. The curriculum design emphasizes the Differentiated Essential Competencies of Graduates of Texas Nursing Programs (as mandated by the Texas Board of Nursing) with a focus on patient safety, interdisciplinary health care team, patient advocacy, evidence based practice, and patient centered care. Hallmark College is now accepting qualified applicants for selection of the first class of thirty students.
